Not Only Poor but also Wealthy Farmers are Left Hopeless After Flash Floods in Haor

Experience shared by Humanitarian Trainees under DEPP Talent Development project.

Since May 2017, Flash flood has severely affected the low-lying areas of Sunamganj, Sylhet, Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Kishoreganj and Brahmanbaria districts under Sylhet division. Hundred thousands of people whose livelihood depends on paddy and fish farming are now suffering massive amounts of loss because of the flood, caused by heavy rainfall and onrush of water from the upstream Meghalaya hills in India.

Lessons learnt and key recommendation from the trainees needs assessment in Haor.
