Preparedness Systems | Webinar

Project: Learning ProjectUrban Early Warning Early Action 26th October 2017

Investing in preparedness is crucial, so how can we do this most effectively? What are the key challenges in strengthening preparedness systems? What have we learned from the Emergency Response Preparedness approach? Can investing in Forecast Based Financing enable us to act before a disaster strikes? Watch this webinar to hear our three speakers share their insights on these questions and more.

Hussain Ullah, from UNOCHA Pakistan, shared a presentation on coordinated emergency response preparedness activities by the United Nations and its partners in Pakistan.

Donna M Lagdameo, from the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Change Centre in the Philippines, then led an interactive session about preparedness through resilience and forecast-based financing.

The webinar was rounded off by Blandina Bobson, from ActionAid Kenya, who talked us through strengthening preparedness at the local level in urban settings. As Blandina’s presentation was a little rushed (in the interests of time), you might prefer to watch this presentation that she gave on the same topic during a conference earlier this year.
